It's now time for me to pass 'Star Wars' on to a new generation of filmmakers. Under the deal, Disney will acquire the "Star Wars" franchise, as well LucasArts, Industrial Light and Magic, and Skywalker Sound. All the companies will remain open and be ran by Kathleen Kennedy, co-chairman of Lucasfilm. Her first action is to begin work on new "Star Wars" movies that will keep Lucas as a creative consultant.

Disney has already set "Star Wars: Episode 7" to hit theaters in 2015, with more installments to soon follow.
