Nolan's Doodlebug

Sysnopsis: A man waits patiently in his apartment to squash a bug, but he could be hurting himself more than he realises.

This early film shows the preoccupation with narrative boundaries Nolan would later explore in his feature films.

Doodlebug has been released on DVD as part of the Cinema16 series.

Luke Morris (producer of Cinema16): "This is one of a number of shorts made by the director of Following, Memento and Insomnia while he was studying English literature in London. Doodlebug has a simplicity common with many good shorts. For a short film made with no money and completed in down time at a Soho post production houses, it's an epic."

Christopher Nolan: "We did the effects on the best machines we could at the time, for gree. We painted our own blue screen with paint from John Lewis that doesn't actually work very well. It's worth paying for the proper paint it you're ever faced with a similar dilemma.

The 3 minute 16mm black-&-white short stars Jeremy Theobald (Following) and was produced by Emma Thomas.
