Jaws Returns Film Discussion

Euro Media Forum and Palazzo Depiro present Jaws Returns: Presentation and discussion at Palazzo Depiro, Mdina on Monday September 9th at 7 p.m.

Speaker educator Peter Mann, Shark expert Greg Nowell and moderator Justin Camilleri, will be exploring the legacy and impact of Steven Spielberg’s 1970s’ timeless thriller. From that classic tagline: Just when you thought it was safe to get back into the water, to that mysterious fin, Jaws devoured his way into movie history, not only sweeping away others that were ruling the box office, but also creating the summer movie blockbuster phenomenon. Jaws’ movie poster is still deadly scary till this day; it shows a female swimmer out at sea, oblivious of the threatening primal beast swimming up towards her from the depths. Even John Williams’ musical score has also became a classic of its kind, as familiar and goose-bump inducing as the screaming violins of Bernard Herrmann’s Psycho shower theme. The speakers will delve into how this film became an instant blockbuster, one of the most enduring action-suspense films of all time and how today it is still acclaimed by critics and audiences alike. Audience members will have an opportunity to rediscover how this timeless film continues to make entire generations afraid to go in the water.

The speakers’ promise an interesting debate and the audience is invited to participate and put forward to the panel their questions, curiosities and observations.

To spice up the evening there will also be a massive Jaws film quiz, with the opportunity to win great prizes. So quiz participants keep your eyes open for Jaws’s clues! Limited seating is available. Tickets are available from Palazzo Depiro. For bookings please email euromediaforum@gmail.com or send an sms to 99454066, or log in http://www.facebook.com/Euro.Media.Forum
